Venture Capital Guide for Development 2008: In cooperation with the Dutch organization NCDO, we published a guide on more than 100 venture capital and private equity funds for starting & growing small enterprises in developing countries. GEXSI provided, among others, the chapter on development impact measurement.
Rainforest Businesses: We consulted the Word Bank on strategies how to create income generating activities for the local population in the Amazonian rainforest that actually protect the rainforest with its rich biodiversity.
Investment Scouting: We assisted a UK based environmental foundation in identifying development investment opportunities in Latin America and Africa, followed by a service contract for monitoring and reporting on project development.

SUSTAINABLE BIOFUELS

We prepared the first worldwide Jatropha market study and project inventory on behalf of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels and WWF
We developed a GEXSI spin-off Jatropha Biofuel company and provided further project development and development investment services since its launch in December 2007
We stewarded the funds for a Jatropha pilot project financed by a UK foundation that investigates the potential of using Jatropha as a means to prevent soil erosion in Madagascar
We advised a German biofuel company operating in West Africa on extending their scope of business from palm oil to Jatropha
We supported a leading international consultancy firm on the agronomy and economics of Jatropha project developments in Southern Africa on behalf of an Asian investor
We provided project development, business planning and management support to a UK based biofuel start-up company that operates in Southern Africa.
We provided business planning support and advise on fundraising for clients, among others, in Brazil, Tanzania, and the United States
